7. Clean your lint trap vent regularly using a special brush

As the name suggest, the purpose of a lint trap is to collect the lint from the clothes that you wash in your washing machine. In doing its job, the lint trap and lint trap vent tend to get dirty themselves. Cleaning the lint trap is no problem. As for the lint trap vent of your washing machine, you can clean it by using the same brush that you usually use to clean the coils underneath your refrigerator. You will just need to bend it and run it inside the lint trap. Once you have done this, you can finish by using a vacuum to suck up any leftover dirt.
